Like me or leave me!

Politics is a process by which groups of people make collective decision. The term is generally applied to behaviour within civil government, but politics has been observed in other group interaction, including corporate, academic, and religious institutions. It consists of “social relations involving authority or power”. I believe in all parties and politicians, they want to grab all people attention to get more polling in their presidential election. Some of them using poster, speech, brochure, or any kind of media kit that be present in the world. The one that I want to explain here is, how new new media could be a part of the election. I believe that as people are really concern with their future president, thus they will find out who are they and the most easy and update medium to find out those information is from new new media these days.

According to Paul Levinson, “But Obama’s YouTube addresses, in pasticular, take advantage of all the characteristic of this new new medium, just as FDR’s fireside chats did with radio in the 1930s and ‘40s. He also informs us Obama on YouTube goes well with today world, as in fact people wants to keep in touch with their president, or at least hear and see him.

If you see the YouTube video above, it has a really good impact on the 2008 election. This video has viewed approximately 17 million times. Who would admit to voting for a candidate because of saucy or funny video? But the fact was he did very well with the under 30 years old voter, both in primaries and the general election. I reckon this video wants to tell the public that Obama is cool, interesting and attractive person. The result form this video was Obama has three times greater for voters under 30 years old than four years earlier. In this video, this girl informs the viewer that Obama is so worth to choose. However there is also the bad impact of this video. As I reckon this video as saucy and funny video, some people above 40 years want to have a serious and authoritativeness president. Obama girl video has a potential to make Obama lacks of those characteristics.

At the other case, the video above shows us how culture jamming has got in to politicians. As anyone could be the producer of new new media these days, so there is no boundary, rules and ethics. That video embarrassed and humiliating Hillary Clinton in which she also one of the candidates of American presidential election in 2008. As in fact this video has been view by around 10 millions viewer, I believe that this video has produced a bad impact of Hillary Clinton.
